Pattern Name on Ravelry: Elsa on the Beach
Designer: Mary Annarella
Sizes Included: 32(35, 38, 41, 44, 47, 49)” bust
About the Pattern: This Elsa is a great transition piece with an easy fit, and top-down construction that looks terrific on the beach or with a camisole and pants for fall wear. It features a dropped-saddle-shoulder with a modern lace pattern running down the sleeves and center front. Subtle shaping along a diagonal results in slimming lines and a slight high-low hem that’s fashion forward without looking like it rides up.
Make it in a heavy lace for a light fabric with lots of drape, or in a true fingering weight for a firmer fabric. Directions for both a hip-length, 3/4 sleeved pullover as well as a cropped, short sleeved version are included in the pattern. The lace and faux-cable patterns are both charted and written out.
The pullover is designed to be worn with 1-3” of positive ease at the bust. Short rows shape the shoulders so that they angle downward (no dreaded “wings” at the shoulders!) and reduce bulk at the underarms. Slim sleeves keep the look modern and sleek.
Last Note: The pattern is named for the colorway of yarn I used- Wollmeise Lace-Garn in “Elsa”. I didn’t want to work out winter-wear for laceweight yarn, so I created a design that Elsa (yep, Frozen Elsa) would wear in some alternate reality where she heads to the beach because the cold really does bother her anyway.
